Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to the most common questions about modeling comp cards, agency submissions, measurements, and printing specifications.
What is a modeling comp card (or zed card)?
A comp card (composite card or zed card) is the standard business card for models and actors. It typically measures 5.5" × 8.5" and includes a strong headshot/portrait on the front and 3 to 4 varied casting looks on the back alongside exact agency measurements and contact details.
Which modeling agencies accept comp cards created on CompCard?
CompCard follows the strict specifications of international scouting boards including IMG Models, Elite Model Management, Storm Management, Ford Models, DNA Models, and Wilhelmina. The exported PDF is vector-crisp and ready for casting directors worldwide.
What are the exact measurements I must include?
For female fashion models: Height (typically 5'8" to 6'0" / 173–183 cm), Bust, Waist, Hips, Shoe size, Hair color, and Eye color. For male models: Height (typically 5'11" to 6'3" / 180–190 cm), Chest, Waist, Inseam/Suit, Shoe size, Hair, and Eye color.
Are my photos uploaded to your servers or stored anywhere?
No. Never. All photos are rendered locally inside your web browser’s memory sandbox using HTML5 Canvas and blob URLs. Nothing is sent to external servers or databases. When you close the tab, everything is permanently cleared.
What paper stock and printer settings should I use to print my comp cards?
Print on heavyweight cardstock (typically 100 lb to 130 lb cover stock / 300–350 GSM) with a matte, satin, or semi-gloss finish. Standard size is 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches (two cards fit onto one standard 8.5" × 11" US Letter sheet).
Can I create a digital comp card to email to agency scouts?
Yes! When submitting via agency online forms or email, download your 300 DPI vector PDF. It is compressed under 2 MB, making it an ideal attachment size that won’t bounce from agency inboxes.
What kind of photos should I use if I do not have professional agency shoots yet?
You do not need an expensive photoshoot! Casting directors actually prefer unedited, clean natural light "digitals" (polaroids): one clean headshot smiling, one neutral expression headshot, one profile side look, and one full-length shot wearing simple form-fitting clothes (plain black/white tank top and fitted denim).
How many templates are available, and is CompCard completely free?
Yes, CompCard is 100% free with no watermarks, no signups, and no paywalls. You can switch between all 6 agency templates (Classic Storm, Sloop Editorial, Sutudio Casting, Vogue Paris, IMG Polaroids, and Milano Noir) without losing your entered data.
How does CompCard stay free without charging for PDF downloads?
We support our hosting and development costs through non-intrusive advertisements served by Google AdSense and affiliate partners. This allows us to keep the full suite free for new models entering the industry.
How can I report a bug or request a new template style?
You can reach out directly via our Contact page or email us at hello@compcard.app. We continuously update layout styles based on feedback from casting scouts and photographers.
